I feel like I'm neglecting my site! :( I've been absolutely crazy busy though.. professionally and personally. I'm moving house in 4 days so I've been packing up my life as I know it.. it's exhausting, but exciting.

In between that, I've done a few business card designs and invitations for a corporate event.. I've also just finished the proofs for a business card for South Burnett Technologies. Hopefully the client likes one of them!

And one last joke for the road ;)

College requires an awesome laptop bag for mandatory Mac Laptop. So,  I have been in searc h for a laptop bag that is perfectly Elly for about a 3 weeks now, and I THINK I FINALLY FOUND IT! Thanks sister! (Also known as Bree, or Breeski, or Twin)

This site is actually filled with ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY EIGHT - that's 188 - LAPTOP bags. JUST laptop bags, of course, they have every other type of bag under the sun, but 188 LAPTOP bags. I am simply amazed. And they're all hand sewn, but look great quality. Yessssssssssssssss.. so I'll be getting one of THOSE soon. Eheheh.

Update on the work: I am currently working on a theme for True Touch Beauty - Not a WEBSITE overhaul, but just a simple logo/website header/business card piece. It's exciting. I'm excited.

Also, Des from Bold & Beautiful Hair (previous client) passed on an open position for part time Graphic Designer (GD) which I was absolutely thankful for, but unfortunately with full time work, part time study and freelance GD in my free time, I can't afford to start a new career right now. As much as I think it would benefit me to jump straight into a GD roll! But I'm thankful that people are considering me. Brings a smile to my face ^_^

My client Bold & Beautiful Hair LOVED the site makeover.

One thing about re-doing a clients site is that you have to work with what they have - especially if they've paid for a years worth of hosting already (because I don't want them to waste their money) and the hosting company DON'T give you access to the html/CSS of the site. Which makes it that much more difficult to cutomise.

You can see the before and after photos in "The Work".

However, they were actually VERY excited with the end product. And they're such lovely people. Awwwwwwwwwwww ^_^ See, even though I'm not saving lives, it DOES feel good to save a website.

YES! LOOK! To the right! No.. LEFT!

I always get those two mixed up. To the right you will find the official Office of Fair Trading Queensland certificate of a Registration of a  Business Name. OH YES. That's me. No one can take my name now or forever more :) I picked my certificate up today (and they only took 1 day to process! Good ol' government) with extreme excitement, and then proceeded to be showered with about 30 lindt chocolates c/- work colleagues! Ok so they weren't necessarily for me.. given that they are doing promotions and get loads for free.. BUT I WILL JUST PRETEND. Like I do, off in my own little world.

So now I'm going to go home, put my feet up, work on a client's site (yes, those two really do go together in this industry) and eat my chocolate. And yes, you can have one too ;)

I have discovered a website that I know a few people I know will LOVE. It's called SMILEBOX and it's a drag-n-drop application that you download that lets you create e-cards, scrapbooking pages, slideshows, postcards and more using existing templates and your own photos. You can choose different themes and insert your own text. Simple, but effective! Aside from the photos, colour and text though, the rest isn't customisable. So if you're one of those people who likes absolutely EVERYTHING customised (eg. ME) this isn't for you, but if you don't mind someone already doing the hard yards, it would be a great program to create your own media.

Kahuna Hot Stones has shown interest in a graphic desgn overhaul! I'm very excited!!

It seems my approach is working (to the left is the sample business card that was emailed). I only hope the Manager is a little bit patient as this will be one of my first attempts at working with a brand new client, however he seems to be very lovely and has let on that he knows how busy it can get trying to run your own business all by yourself. He is off to Thailand for 2 weeks (lucky him!) giving me some time to play around with designs so I can offer him a few options.

OH THIS IS SO EXCITING. Wish me luck! I'll keep you posted.

So I'm trying my hand at creating my own business cards. I found this FANTASTIC website that custom design business cards, and they are all really really good, but it's like $100 PLUS the printing to get them to do it. And I was like HANG ON A MINUTE.. I do graphics, surely I can create my own! So here they are. Front, back. Let me know what you think ^_^

Edit: Have changed the gradiant on the "ellybean" on the front as suggested - I think it's a lot more noticable now!
